German Member of Parliament Philipp Missfelder visits India

Jul 4, 2012

With a view to strengthen political dialogue with India, German Member of Parliament (MoP) and Foreign Policy Spokesman of the CDU/CSU Parliamentary-Group Philipp Missfelder is visiting Delhi from July 4-6, 2012.

He will meet Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Union Minister of Power Sushil Kumar Shinde, Union Minister for Law and Justice Salman Khurshid and Minister of State for Home Affairs Jitendra Singh.

The Christian Democratic Union or CDU along with its Bavarian sister party the Christian Social Union or CSU is the major partner in the ruling coalition in Germany.

MoP Missfelder will deliver a keynote address at a conference titled “Resource Security: European and Indian Perspectives”. The conference has been organised by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in collaboration with Germany’s Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS). Nobel Prize winner and Director General TERI R.K. Pachauri will also deliver the keynote address to present the Indian perspective on resource security.

The KAS is a political foundation, closely associated with the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU). The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung has organised its programme priorities in India into five working areas - foreign and security policy; economic and energy policy; rule of law; social and political change and local self-government; and training programmes for students of journalism. In implementing its project and programmes, the foundation cooperates with Indian partner organisations, such as think tanks, government and non-governmental institutions.

Philipp Missfelder will also participate in the IDSA Policy roundtable at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses on Thursday, July 5, 2012.
