From 27th March – 6th May 2012 the exhibition of the United Buddy Bears took place in New Delhi as part of the Year of Germany in India 2011-2012. The Buddy Bears provided the perfect backdrop for young German learners from schools in Delhi and adjoining areas to learn more about Germany and express their creativity in a fun-filled atmosphere.

The German Embassy in New Delhi and Delhi-based NGO Centre for Social Research (CSR), today unveiled a social programme to address the increasingly skewed sex ratio of Delhi. Germany has allocated Rs. 5,280,280 (approximately 80,000 euros) to the project.

On the occasion of the International Women's Day, Gladys Abankwa-Meier-Klodt, wife of Germany's acting Ambassador in India Cord Meier-Klodt, inaugurated the SEWA (Self-Employed Women's Association) Rozgar Kendra – an employment centre for women – in New Ashok Nagar of east Delhi. The centre was inaugurated on Saturday, 10 March 2012.

German Embassy hosts charity event to support the girl child

On Saturday, 3rd March, the German Embassy in New Delhi hosted ‘Rays of Hope’ – a fund-raiser to support the girl child organised by the NGO Earth Foundation. The highlight of the event was a fashion show where several Heads of Missions and their families participated. The event also awarded individuals who have done significant work for the girl child.
