The New Delhi World Book Fair from 7th to 15th January 2017
The New Delhi World Book Fair will take place from 7th to 15th January 2017 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, by the National Book Trust (NBT). Germany has been actively participating in the fair every year since 2009 under the banner of the German Book Office (GBO).
The visitors can experience well-known German literary works at the fair. The GBO Stall displays a collection of fiction, children’s books, new releases, special interest books and several other books in various areas like architecture, museum, art, etc. This year, the GBO is going to organize a presentation for Indian publishers together with the French Book Office. The GBO also organizes several events at the fair, like publishers meetings, to promote German literature in India. As in the past years, they will also be organise author readings at the Events Corners.
Additionally, an evening of art and books and panel discussions will be organised on 7th January 2016 at the Oxford Book Store at the fair. Representatives from the German Embassy, German book Office (GBO), Frankfurt Book Fair (FBM), Pubport Publishing and various other publishers will be present at the event.
The GBO is a joint venture between the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany and promotes cultural exchange in the field of literature.
The New Delhi World Book Fair is the oldest and one of the largest book events in Asia. It has been organised in New Delhi every year since 1972. This year, the nine-day fair hosts more than 30 countries and international organisations.
