Germany and India sign a loan of 20 million Euro for the promotion of hydropower in India

In the presence of the German Ambassador Dr. Martin Ney and the Joint Secretary S. Selvakumar (Department for Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance), representatives of the German Development Bank (KfW) and North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd. (NEEPCO) signed a loan agreement of 20 million Euro for the continuing construction of the Pare hydroelectric plant (Pare HEP). This increases the sum of German commitments for hydropower projects in India to 450 million Euros.

UN Climate Change Conference: Important progress made

Federal Environment Minister Barbara Hendricks has reported that the Climate Change Conference has made good progress on implementing the Paris Agreement. The conference was also the first demonstrably environmentally friendly UN Climate Change Conference. At the end of the conference Barbara Hendricks was presented with an EU certificate that reflects this.

Around 25,000 representatives of governments and NGOs are gathering in the German city for the 23rd UN Climate Change Conference (COP23) in Bonn, the largest international conference ever hosted in Germany, which takes place from 6th to 17th November.  Under the Presidency of the Republic of Fiji, concrete steps on implementing the Paris Agreement will be negotiated.
