Ambassador Dr Ney at Indo-German business meeting in Düsseldorf

Dr Martin Ney, German Ambassador to India, spoke at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce in Düsseldorf on 21st June 2017. The focus of the AGM was on strengthening business ties between India and Germany.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chancellor Merkel on the occasion of the recent Indo-German intergovernmental consultations in Berlin reaffirmed their strong commitment to a Free Trade and Investment Agreement between the EU and India", said Ambassador Dr Ney. "India’s relevance to us, to the EU, and to the world economy as a whole is steadily increasing", he added - "encouraging German companies to be part of India’s growth story".

Mukta Tomar Dutta, the new Indian Ambassador to Germany, presented India as an attractive investment destination.

More than 1800 German companies are currently present in India having created over 400,000 jobs. According to IGCC, German exports to India have risen by 12.1 percent to almost 3.5 billion Euros in the period from January to April 2017.
