Messe Frankfurt brings Ambiente – the world’s most important consumer goods trade fair – to India
Messe Frankfurt, in partnership with the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), is launching Ambiente India, leading trade fair for India’s interior décor and home accessories market. As a destination for the wholesale and retail sector, Ambiente India 2014 will offer manufacturers, designers and suppliers of home décor and interior accessories the opportunity to network, showcase current trends, launch new products and discover the most exciting products. The trade fair will take place alongside Heimtextil India from 19 – 21 June 2014, at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
Raj Manek, Managing Director, Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India stated, “Ambiente India 2014 will represent an ideal platform for showcasing products, developing contacts and uncovering a wide range of innovations in home décor and interior accessories. Coupled with Heimtextil India, the trade fair will provide the domestic market with a comprehensive arena for business, networking, and inspiration.”
Economic background indicates a successful show launch
Factors such as rapid urbanisation, higher disposable incomes as well as the above-average growth of sectors like hospitality and real estate are key drivers of the home décor and accessories market and, thus, pointing to the significance of having an Ambiente event in India. According to a 2012 study by BRICdata, India’s interior products industry is expected to reach a value of USD 48.5 billion by 2016 (at an annual growth rate of 11.34 percent). Also, the consumer class, which is estimated to grow twelve-fold from approximately 50 million (2013) to 585 million by 2025, is drawing global attention; not just because of its sheer market volume but also because of the tectonic shift in the nature of demand.
Aspiring towards a better lifestyle, Indian consumers have demonstrated an increased appetite for interior decoration products, a trend increasingly reflected in their homes. According to an ASA & Associates Chartered Accountants‘ report entitled ‘A Brief Report on Lifestyle Products in India,’ August 2013.
