Information on Micro-projects in Karnataka & Kerala
General guidelines
With the Micro-project scheme, the German Consulate General supports projects for disadvantaged groups of society to improve their social and economic situation.
The maximum amount for each project is EUR 15.000.
Preference is generally given to projects in the fields of education, vocational training, income-generation and protection of the environment. Projects promoting gender equality receive particular consideration. The target group benefitting from the micro-project should be actively involved in the project.

Solar power plant for the International Institute for Social Entrepreneurs
The Institute for Social Entrepreneurs (IISE) near Trivandrum conducts a one-year intensive residential course for mainly blind and visually-impaired participants from all over the world. The idea of the initiative is to transform participants into selfsufficient and highly capable individuals who are able to make a positive impact on society in whichever part of the world they live in. The Institute is run by the NGO“Braille Without Borders”.
In 2010, the German Consulate General, Bangalore donated a Solar power plant worth EUR 9.000 which supplies power for the class rooms and the computer lab.
