Research is the key to innovation, and innovation is the driver of growth and prosperity. Germany together with European Union fosters research and development projects worldwide. The EU Research Framework Programme (RFP) is the largest funding programme for research projects in the world. The EU Commission has set up the European Research Council (ERC) to support investigator-driven frontier-oriented research. The organisation supports research on the sole criterion of excellence of the researcher and his or her scientific idea. In this section you will find current calls for research proposals where you can apply for grants. 

Germany, Britain and France want to adopt the 30 per cent emissions cut target

Environment and health: second call published for ERA-Net ERA-ENVHEALTH

ERA-Net ERA-ENVHEALTH published its second call on the subject of "Air pollution in urban areas - health impacts on vulnerable groups under changing conditions". The designated overall budget is EUR 1.35 mio. Germany, represented by the Federal Environment Agency, is participating with a budget of EUR 100,000.

Further cooperation countries are France, Belgium and Sweden. The call is carried out in a two stage application procedure. The first step consists of a letter of intent to be submitted to the ERA-Net secretariat in Paris. Deadline for the first stage was March 30, 2012. Those who submitted the proposals in the first stage, the deadline for submission of full proposal (second stage) is June 21, 2012.

JTI 'Fuel Cells and Hydrogen'

The Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU), a unique public private partnership between the European Commission and the NEW Industry Grouping has published new Calls for Proposals. The Call comprises the research priorities: Transportation & Refueling Infrastructure, Hydrogen Production & Distribution, Stationary Power Generation & CHP, Early Markets, Cross-Cutting Issues. Deadline for the submission of proposals is 24 May, 2012.
