Captivating classical music at the Residence

A musical performance by the German Ambassador to India, Dr Martin Ney, his wife, Dr Mrs Gabriele Ney, and German pianist Iris Vogel, set the tone for the enchanting evening at the Ambassador’s Residence on Thursday, 12th May.
Ambassador Dr Ney and Dr Mrs Gabriele Ney on the flutes were joined by Iris Vogel on the piano. They played sonatas by composers Franz Anton Hoffmeister and Joseph Haydn as well as a duettino for two flutes and piano by Franz Doppler. The music connoisseurs in the audience were enthralled by this rare performance in Delhi of classical European music.
Ambassador Dr Ney has played with renowned orchestras worldwide and given regular solo performances with the ‘Frankfurter Solisten’ (the chamber orchestra of the Frankfurt Opera) since 2005. Dr Mrs Gabriele Ney, a medical doctor by profession, is a seasoned flute player, too. She co-founded the student chamber orchestra ‘Consortium Musicum Enheim’ with her husband, Ambassador Dr Ney, and has played with him at numerous occasions. Iris Vogel, an accomplished church musician from Germany, played the piano on that evening.
