A Festive House Concert cum Dinner at Ambassador Dr Ney’s Residence

On the occasion of the launch of the “Alliance for Dual VET”, an initiative to promote vocational training in India, two world-class Opera singers performed in the Residence of Ambassador Dr Martin Ney on 15th March.

The concert was supported by Liz Mohn, vice-chair of the Bertelsmann Foundation’s Executive Board and its Board of Trustees, and the Bertelsmann Foundation, who invited the artists of “Neue Stimmen” to India. The International singing competition “Neue Stimmen” started in 1987, as an initiative of Liz Mohn to promote young Opera singers and takes place every two years in Gütersloh. The two laureates of the competition, Elsa Dreisig (soprano) and Thobala Ntshanyana (tenor), along with pianist Prof. Burkhard Kehring, performed pieces by Giuseppe Verdi, Franz Schubert and Maurice Ravel. The audience was mesmerised by the performance of the young opera singers and honoured them with standing ovations.
