Visa for Speciality Cooks
Application procedure:
First-time applicants should apply for the visa in person at least 3 months prior to departure. Please note the visa processing may take 6 - 12 weeks as all the applications have to be referred to the local German authorities. Simultaneous applications for short term visas and long term visas cannot be entertained.
Please Note short term visas cannot be converted into residence permits after arrival in Germany.

Passport and Photograph
Passport
The Visa section of the German Consulate General can only issue visas to applicants holding a valid passport. The applicants have to present a passport fulfilling the following criteria:
- The passport should have been issued (and not extended) in the last 10 years.
- The passport should contain atleast 2 blank pages.
-The passport should have a minimum validity of 12 months beyond the date of return from the Schengen territory.
Please note: Passports containing illegible data will not be accepted.
Photograph
The photograph must be 35 mm X 45 mm in size with the face covering about three quarters of the area of the photograph. The background of the photograph should be light in color.

Visa Fees
The visa fees are subject to change.
Applicants have to pay the visa fees by demand draft. The Demand Draft must be in the name of the "Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mumbai", payable in Mumbai and must not be older than two months.
Please Note the visa fees will not be reimbursed in case of the visa being rejected. Visa fees will be waived off for spouses and children of EU-Nationals.

Verification of documents
Please note: Since a verification of documents is required additional charges of Rs. 45.000/- apply!
Applicants have to pay the visa fees and the charges for verification procedures separately by demand draft. You may find the demand draft form for both sums as a download below. The demand drafts must be in the name of the "Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mumbai", payable in Mumbai and must not be older than two months.
Please note: Neither visa fees nor charges for documents' verification will be reimbursed in case of the visa being rejected.

Cover Letter and additional documents
Applicants have to submit a covering letter along with their curriculum vitae. Additional documents required are birth certificate and school leaving certificate.
Proof of Work Experience
Applicants have to submit a curriculum vitae describing their work experience in detail with the names of the restaurants they have worked for, designations, period of work, job role etc. Applicants also need to furnish experience letters, relieving letters, recommendation letters etc. from previous employers as proof of work experience.
Qualification Certificate and ZAV Application form
Applicants have to furnish a Qualification Certificate and a ZAV Application form filled out by the International Institute of Culinary Arts, New Delhi.
International Institute of Culinary Arts is the only Hotel Management School in India recognized by the German Federal Employment Agency, International Placement Services (ZAV) and the only institute in India to conduct cooking tests.
The charges involved for conducting the cooking test including assistance with the application procedure through the above mentioned Institute will amount to € 300/- (to be paid in Indian Rupees). Please note that the Consulate General is not connected with the Institute and has no influence on the fees charged.

Employment Contract
Applicants have to submit an employment contract signed by the employer in Germany.
Declaration of Authenticity
A Declaration of Authenticity is required to be signed by the applicant as a guarantee that all information and documents provided by the applicant are genuine. Knowingly providing false information may result in the applicant being denied a visa or being deported from Germany, should a visa already have been issued.
