Business Delegation from Rhineland-Palatinate visits India, November 19-27, 2016
Minister of Economic Affairs Dr. Volker Wissing accompanied by a high level business delegation is visiting India from November 19-27, 2016. The main agenda of the delegation is to connect with representatives from industry, science and politics. Coming from New Delhi the delegation visited Mumbai and will proceed to Pune and Ahmedabad.
In Mumbai, Minister Dr. Wissing had a fruitful meeting with the Minister of Industries, Mr. Subhash Desai.
Student delegation from the Duale Hochschule Baden Württemberg visits Mumbai, January 14, 2016
On Thursday, January 14th, 2016, the German Consulate General welcomed a delegation of students from the ‘Duale Hochschule Baden Württemberg’ in Germany, who visited India in order to explore the country and potential business opportunities. As part of their curriculum the students have to train at a German company that is presently engaged in business relations with India. This visit was the optimal occasion for the students to experience Indo-German relations first-hand and granted them the opportunity to gain a deeper insight into the functioning of the German Consulate General in Mumbai.
State Secretary Daniela Behrens from the Ministry of Economics, Labour and Transport of the State of Lower Saxony accompanied by a political as well as an economic delegation visited Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmedabad from December 06-12, 2015. The main agenda of the delegation was to promote the State of Lower Saxony as a port destination and to facilitate exchange of ideas with the port authorities in the Consulate's jurisdiction, with a primary focus on Gujarat and Mumbai.

Indian born German author Rajvinder Singh visited Mumbai and Pune from December 3-6, 2015. During his visit Mr. Singh held several lectures and talks at various institutions. The author, Mr. Rajvinder Singh, was born in 1956 in Kapurthala in India and is a German citizen since 1997 and also member of the German P.E.N.

A 43-member strong delegation from the Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport and Regional Development from the German Federal State of Hessen led by Deputy Minister-President (Deputy Chief Mnister) Tarek Al-Wazir visited Mumbai from November 5-7, 2015. The delegation had a robust 2-day programme comprising of meetings with several high ranking officials from the Government of Maharashtra as well as financial institutions such as the RBI and SEBI amongst others. The main purpose of the visit in Mumbai was the potential cooperation between Frankfurt/Rhein Main as the financial center of Germany and the Euro zone on the one hand and Mumbai, in its capacity as the financial capital of India, on the other.

Federal Minister of Defence Dr. Ursula von der Leyen, accompanied by a high ranking delegation, visited Mumbai from May 27-28, 2015. Dr. Ursula von der Leyen is the first woman to hold the office of a German Federal Minister of Defence. She has held several important cabinet portfolios over the past 10 years.

The Consulate General is playing host to several guests from Germany in the days from January 18-26. Various delegations headed by the Minister for the Bundesrat, Europe and International Affairs of the State of Baden-Württemberg and Mayors from the cities of Karlsruhe and Stuttgart are currently in Mumbai.

Dr. Andreas Dombret, Member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank was on a 2-day visit from October 30-31 to Mumbai to officiate the handing-over of office of the Representative of the Deutsche Bundesbank in India. He bid farewell to the outgoing Representative of the Bundesbank in India, Mr. Thomas Notheis and welcomed his successor, Mr. Alexander Sattler. Dr. Dombret also attended a reception hosted by Consul General Siebert in honour of Mr. Notheis and Mr. Sattler. Dr. Dombret delivered the Founder's Day lecture of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce held at the Trident Hotel.

During his visit to India last week, Deputy Prime-Minister and Minister of Finance and Economics of Baden-Württemberg, Nils Schmid, held talks with senior politicians and eminent entrepreneurs. Accompanied by a 44-member high-level economic and science delegation, the Minister travelled to Bangalore, Pune and Delhi with the aim to strengthen Indo-German relations in the automotive and other manufacturing sectors.

German Health Minister Daniel Bahr was on a 3-city visit to India from April 27-30, 2013. The Minister visited Delhi, Ahmedabad and Mumbai with an aim to strengthen relations between the 2 countries in the healthcare sector.

The association between India, which has a long-standing shipbuilding tradition and has also become an international player in the maritime industry over the last few decades and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the second largest port in Europe and Germany's "Gateway to the World" is steadily intensifying. To foster this association further, Dr. Manfred Schubert, Deputy Director-General for Indusrial Policy from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and Mr. Wolfgang Schmidt, Foreign Minister of the City-State of Hamburg visited Mumbai from April 3-6, 2013.

A 26-member Bavarian delegation with an interest in environmental technology and renewable energy, engineering, infrastructure and building and construction industry visited Mumbai from February 17-20, 2013. The Mumbai visit of the delegation will be followed by visits to Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata.
