German State Secretary for Economics visits India, 9-14th January, 2013
Enlarge image (© GK Mumbai) German Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, Mr. Hans-Joachim Otto and his delegation visited Delhi, Pune and Mumbai from 9th-14th January. On 12th January, Mr. Otto visited the 5th Indo-German Urban Mela in Pune as the Chief Guest. The Year of Germany in India concludes with this final tour of the Mela in Pune.
In Pune, the delegation first visited the recently inaugurated training centre of Volkswagen followed by a visit to the Deccan College Grounds. Mr. Otto along with bollywood actress Bipasha Basu inaugurated the Mela and visited the different pavilions at the Mela.
On Sunday, the delegation travelled to Mumbai, where a dinner was hosted in their honour by the Director General of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Bernhard Steinrücke.
On Monday, Mr. Otto attended a workshop on disaster management, a first of its kind to be held in Mumbai, which was also attended by representatives from the municipal corporation. This was followed by a meeting with the Industrial Development Corporation, where the delegation was updated on the status of the Delhi-Mumbai corridor. The delegation also received information on the heavy machinery and engineering industry as well as the shipping industry.
