Finance and Economics Minister of Baden-Württemberg visits India, October 24, 2013

During his visit to India last week, Deputy Prime-Minister and Minister of Finance and Economics of Baden-Württemberg, Dr. Nils Schmid, held talks with senior politicians and eminent entrepreneurs. Accompanied by a 44-member high-level economic and science delegation, the Minister travelled to Bangalore, Pune and Delhi with an aim to strengthen Indo-German relations in the automotive and other manufacturing sectors.
For his stay in Pune on October 24, the Minister and his delegation were welcomed and accompanied by Consul General Michael Siebert, with whom they attended expert talks on the rapid expansion of the Indian automotive and supplier industry with the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and the Mahratta Chamber Of Commerce Industries & Agriculture Pune (MCCIA).
At subsequent lunch with eminent regional business-leaders such as Baba Kalyani from Bharat Forge, Mahesh Kodumudi from Volkswagen India, and Eberhard Kern from Mercedes-Benz India, amongst others, the economic and political outlook for India and Maharashtra were discussed. Especially the situation of local German automotive subsidiaries and their Indian business partners was high on the agenda.
