Consulate General welcomes 4 German delegations between January 18-26, 2015

The Consulate General is hosting several guests from Germany in the days from January 18-26. 

The first guests to arrive was the delegation from Karlsruhe headed by Dr. Frank Mentrup, Mayor of the city of Karlsruhe. The delegation travelled to Pune and held several presentations and workshops on smart and clean city projects and also to promote economic cooperation between the cities of Pune and Karlsruhe and to promote economic activities between the two cities.

This delegation was followed by the delegation headed by Peter Friedrich, Minister for the Bundesrat, Europe and International Affairs of the State of Baden-Württemberg from January 19-24. The delegation is here to highlight the state of Baden-Württemberg as a budding market for Indian companies in Germany and to promote business opportunities between the states of Maharashtra and Baden-Württemberg. Part of the delegation also travelled to Nasik to visit the German companies based there. Mr. Friedrich along with Mr. Subhash Desai, Minister of Industries, State of Maharashtra also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a Sister-State Relationship between Maharashtra and Baden-Wurttemberg.

And the last guests to arrive was the delegation headed by Fritz Kuhn, Mayor of Stuttgart from January 21-26. Mr. Kuhn and his delegation are here to strengthen the economic relations between the twin cities of Stuttgart and Mumbai as well as to address pivotal issues such as urban planning and environmental as well as energy policies plaguing both the cities.

All the delegation members also plan to hold talks with Municipal Commisioner Sitaram Kunte and Mayor Snehal Ambekar besides meeting with representatives of the Indo-German business community.

Mr. Kuhn along with Mr. Friedrich will inaugurate the 11th "Stuttgart Wine Festival" at the Taj Land's End today. The 2-day event is organized by Mr. Andreas Lapp, the Honorary Consul of India for Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate, who's delegation was also a part of Minister Freidrich's delegation. The festival is an important platform for high-ranking representatives of regional politics, industries, tourism, media and culture to meet in a relaxing atmosphere. Consul General Siebert as well as the Heads of the delegations would be addressing the guests at the event.
