First Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, visits India from 13 to 20 October
The relations between India and Hamburg will be strenghtened further with the visit of Mr. Olaf Scholz, the first Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic Citz of Hamburg. The Mayor and his delegation of about 40 representatives from fields of Politics, Economics, Culture and Press will arrive in India on a one-week trip and visit Delhi and Mumbai. With a comprehensive program schedule, the visit in Mumbai includes, amongst other things, talks with representatives of the city. The sustainable partnership between Mumbai, India's largest port city and Hamburg, one of the most important maritime commercial hubs of northern Europe will deepen further with this visit.
Mr. Scholz will be the Guest of Honour at the inauguration of this year's Mumbai Film Festival on 19th October. On the occasion of 100 years of cinema in Mumbai, the festival will showcase an Indo-German silent film accompanied by music.
From October 7 to 16 German coaches Lutz Pfannenstiel und Felix Imme stayed in Mumbai to train India's top soccer player turned trainers with a special focus on goalkeeping. Their coaching was part of a football-project jointly run by the German Olympic Sports Federation and the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Lutz Pfannenstiel considers football widely established in India on a similarly common base as cricket. To him soccer is of great potential in India. Read more!
After being deployed at sea for 4 months as part of the European Union Naval Force’s “Operation Atalanta” at the Horn of Africa, the Frigate dropped anchor in Mumbai from where it departed for its home port on Sunday, August 19th. German Medical Students visit Mumbai
Members of the German Medical Students' Association (bmvd) were on a visit to Mumbai from August 5th-15th, 2012 to attend a conference conducted by IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students Associations), which also serves as an international platform for exchange of ideas and initiatives. Around 80,000 medical students from Germany are represented at the IFMSA. Besides being introduced to the exchange programs and the relief programs, in which the budding medical practitioners can participate, the students also met up with the Deputy Consul General, Mr. Michael Ott and had discussions with him about the Indo-German relations and the indian healthcare system.
21-28th April, 2012: Mayor of Köln visits New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore
Mayor of Köln, Mr. Jürgen Roters is travelling to New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore with a high-ranking economic and science delegation along with a team of economic promotion from Köln.
With this visit, the city of Köln gives a new impetus to its India-initiative started in 2006. The city of Köln promotes itself in India as an ideal location for business and trade fairs and and the visit is aimed at strengthening the administrative relations with the Indian governmental authorities as well as contact building with the scientific community here.
April 9-14th, 2012: German Minister for Transport, Building and Urban Development
The German Minister for Transport, Building and Urban Development, Dr. Peter Ramsauer is visiting India from 9th to14th April 2012. Accompanied by a high-profile bsuiness delegation, Dr. Ramsauer will be travelling to Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.
Dr. Ramsauer will inaugurate the "Indo-German Urban Mela," a 10-day event under the aegis of the year of Germany in India, titled "Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities." During his visit to Mumbai, Dr. Ramsauer is expected to hold talks with the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Prithviraj Chavan and Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Mr. Praful Patel.

25-28th March, 2012: Governing Mayor of Berlin
With a view to deepen relations between India and the city of Berlin, the Governing Mayor of Berlin Mr. Klaus Wowereit is visiting India from March 25-28, 2012. Mr. Wowereit is accompanied by a high-profile business delegation from different infrastructure-related industries. At business conferences and numerous meetings the delegates aim to make new contacts in India, thus initiating a constructive dialogue on infrastructure issues in the context of the year of Germany in India, titled “Germany and India 2011 – 2012: Infinite Opportunities’’, a celebratory programme to mark 60 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
