A new approach in poetry is changing the arts landscape in Mumbai. Fearless, global and with an artistic fervor, they show us their hopes, the culture that excites them – and the problems in translating each other.

How much does language and how much rhythm and beat channel the actual poem? The cross-cultural initiative initiated by Max Mueller Bhavan will show us some answers.

Poets Translating Poets, a project with around 50 poets from the subcontinent with counterparts in Germany are in town to exchange and share their translations. The event launched yesterday in Mumbai, with a get-together and a possibility to share their experiences of translating at the residence of the Consul General of Germany, Dr. Juergen Morhard.

The personal setting and for some, the exchange with each other helps not only the poets but as well us - the audience - to see poems in a new light.
