FoodTech and PackEx India 2012
Consul General Michael Siebert inaugurated the 8th International FoodTech and PackEx India 2012, an event of Messe Köln. The fair took place from 11th to 13th September at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai.
"I am convinced that, the Indian demand for modern techniques in food processing and food packing industry will grow structurally in the coming years. The constantly growing, young middle-class, with a higher purchasing power, will shape the lifestyle of the country further with its increasing demands for better hygiene standards in food processing", said Mr. Siebert in his opening speech.
Worldwide India is the 2nd largest Manufacturer of food products, though only 2% thereof are from fruits and 15% are milk products.
International Foodtec India and PackEx India brought together manufacturers and suppliers from the fields of packaging and food processing technology under one roof.
The fair was a success with a total of 337 exhibitors - 45% international exhibitors from 26 countries, country pavilions from Germany, Italy, France, China and Taiwan and a stream of 11,385 visitors. The German participation with 25 exhibitors, 9 there from under the country pavilion, was noteworthy.
