The Economics department of the Consulate General monitors the development of various business sectors in India. It works closely with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce and Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI) , the foreign trade and inward investment agency of the Federal Republic of Germany, for promoting and nurturing business activities. The representatives of the Economics department visit events and trade fairs within the jurisdiction of the Consulate General and report regularly on their trends and success and make recommendations on the same.

Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI )
Germany Trade and Invest is the foreign trade and inward investment agency of the Federal Republic of Germany. The organization provides up-to-date information to German companies seeking to expand their businesses abroad. It promotes Germany as a business and technology location to companies abroad that secure and create jobs in Germany. It offers expert advice and support to potential foreign investors looking to enter the German markets. In Mumbai, the GTAI operates from the premises of the Indo-German Chamber of commerce.
Indo-German Chamber of Commerce - Deutsch-Indische Handelskammer Mumbai
The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce was established in 1956 in Mumbai and now has branch offices in 5 other Indian cities and a liaision office in Düsseldorf. The IGCC offers German and Indian companies a wide spectrum of services ranging from advice and consultation to market research and legal services among others.

The federal states of Germany and its regions conduct their independent promotional activities worldwide and thus intensify the bilateral relations on the state and regional levels. Within the jurisdiction of the Consulate General, the federal states of Hamburg, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia as well as the region of Frankfurt-Rhein-Main have their respective offices, which focus on the economic promotion of their region.
