DAAD is a joint organisation of German institutions of higher education and student bodies. The aim of DAAD is to promote academic cooperation world wide, especially through the exchange of students, scholars, academics, and scientists. In developing countries, the DAAD is actively engaged in promoting academic cooperation. Being a renowned and long established institution in the realm of high level education on an international basis it features an impressive network of Alumnis.

The regional office of  DAAD in India is based in New Delhi and it has an Information Centre in Pune and an Information Point in Mumbai.

Germany welcomes record number of Indian students in 2014-15

There has been a record growth in the number of Indians studying in Germany. The year 2014-15 had 11,860 Indian students enroll in German universities, a massive increase of 23% over the figure of the previous year. The number has more than doubled in the past four years.
