The 13th Mumbai International Film Festival takes place at the NCPA, Nariman Point from February 3-9, 2014. It is one of the most prestigious festival, at par with many international festivals, for short, animation and documentary films. The biennial festival is conducted by the Films Division, Government of India, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting with the active collaboration of the Government of Maharashtra and the Indian Documentary Producers' Association.

The festival welcomes participation from around 40-50 countries apart from a separate Indian competition section. MIFF also honours a veteran documentary film maker with the prestigious "Dr. V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award," in addition to several other awards under various categories. This year's jury comprises of several renowned Indian as well as international names from the world of short films, documentaries and animation.

The German participation this year comprises of the Werner Herzog Retrospective and 'and who taught you to drive', a film by Andrea Thiele along with other German Films from the short, animation and documentary genre. This section will be presented by MIFF together with the Max Mueller Bhavan/Goethe Institut.
