Delegation from Bavarian State Assembly

The Parliamentary Committee on Federal and European Affairs of the Legislative Assembly of Bavaria under the leadership of the Chairperson Prof. Ursula Maennle visited Kolkata during 06-08 February 2012.
The 25-member delegation included the Spokesperson on Development Matters of all political parties represented in the Bavarian State Parliament (Legislative Assembly), as well as members of three German Non-Governmental Organizations.
Visiting project Enlarge image (© GK Kalkutta) The delegates visited two villages in North 24 Pargana district to see the projects and the means undertaken by Indienhilfe e.V. Herrsching to abolish child labour in the rural regions.
The delegation furthermore had discussions with the West Bengal Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee and with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce to explore possible investment opportunities in Bengal for Bavarian enterprises.
Meeting the Speaker Biman Banerjee of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly was another highlight of the visiting delegation.
