Important Notice regarding Short Term Schengen Visa
- All Schengen Visa applicants are well-advised to apply a minimum of 10 to 12 working days prior to Departure
- Passport to be submitted shall have been issued within last 10 years
- Passport to be submitted shall have at least two blank pages

Token System reintroduced

Token system is applicable for visa applications to be submitted from 19 March 2012 onwards.

Prior to application an applicant /travel agent is required to call the Consulate to get a token number with date and time for submission of their application(s). Alternatively an applicant /travel agent can come to the Consulate to collect a token mentioning date and time for submission of their application(s).

In case an applicant does not appear on the date/time given on the token, he/she will need to re-register for a new token and the earlier registration will be treated as cancelled.
It may be that a person might only get a token for a submission date 2 to 5 working days later.
One can ask for a token maximum 2 weeks before intended date of submission of visa application.

Schengen Visa - Liechtenstein

Beginning on 19 December 2011, Schengen visas issued even before that date by other countries also entitle the holder to enter Liechtenstein. Liechtenstein itself has begun issuing Schengen visas, which enable entry into other Schengen states, on 19 December 2011.

All visa fees are to be paid by Demand Draft (in Indian Rupees) at the time of application. No visa application can be processed without visa fees being paid.

Procedure: Print out of the filled in form is to be submitted together with all other obligatory documents required for visa application.

Visa Information & Requirement

The German Consulate General in Kolkata issues visas only for residents under its consular area, which includes the states of: West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram,Nagaland and Tripura
if the main destination (according to the purpose of the journey) is Germany.

Collection of issued Visa: Monday - Thursday: 13:30 - 15:00 hrs, Friday: 11:30 - 12:30 hrs
(On the date specified at the counter while submitting application and written by hand at the top right corner on the passport collection slip)

Passports which are not collected within that period of time can only be collected on the next working day.

Important Notice regarding admission to the Visa & Consular Section

Due to security reasons visitors are not allowed to carry the following objects inside the Visa & Consular section: electronic devices (e.g. mobile phones, notebook, camera etc.), dangerous objects (e.g. knives, weapons etc.), bags, luggage, umbrellas.
Exception: Ladies are allowed to carry “small handbag” (max size 20cm x 20cm) only after it is checked by the Security Guard of the Consulate General. In case this security check is rejected the access to the premises of the Consulate General will be denied.

Note: It may not be possible to deposit the above mentioned objects at the entrance of the Visa & Consular Section and the safeguarding of personal belongings lies in the sole responsibility of the applicant.

Inside the Visa & Consular section visitors are allowed to carry only the documents that are required for the submission of a visa application/ consular matter.

Travelling with 10000 Euro or more

Applicable from 15 June 2007, all travellers entering or leaving the European Union through the external control points: with 10000 Euro or more in cash or its equivalent in other currencies or easily convertible assets (e.g. bonds, shares, traveller’s cheques) must declare the sum to Customs.
