General Visa information

Depending on the purpose and duration of your stay in Germany you can either apply for a short-term "Schengen visa" or for a long-term "German national visa" for stays over 90 days. The German Missions in India have started outsourcing the handling of SCHENGEN visa applications to VFS Global. Now, every client will have the option to submit his/her visa application at a nearby Visa Application Centre.

Die Aufnahme erfolgt passwortgeschützt im online-Verfahren. Über die Krisenvorsorge hinaus bietet die elektronische Registrierung die Möglichkeit, Informationen zu Bundestagswahlen und zu Wahlen zum Europäischen Parlament sowie sonstige Informationen der zuständigen deutschen Auslandsvertretungen zu beziehen. Eine Eintragung ist deshalb bei längerem Auslandsaufenthalt grundsätzlich zu empfehlen.
