FILE YOUR VISA APPLICATION IN FOUR EASY STEPS:

Step 1:

Please prepare the necessary documentation for your visa application using the following checklists:

Please note that the photos should meet biometric photos requirements [pdf, 1.350,34k] .

STEP 2:

Please print out the application form [pdf, 322,15k] twice, fill it out and bring it along with the other documents.

STEP 3:

Now you can schedule an appointment to submit your visa application. Kindly book one appointment per applicant.

STEP 4:

Shortly before your appointment, please verify the current exchange rate for your visa fee on this website and obtain the demand draft, payable to the “Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Bangalore”.

Since your application will be forwarded to the competent authorities in Germany, the consulate requires approximately six to eight weeks to process your visa application.

Information on German knowledge requirement

Since Germany has amended its law relating to foreigners in 2007, visa applicants are required to present evidence of basic knowledge of the German language in the event of family reunion of spouses.

Visa fees

The visa fee has to be paid in Rupees by Demand Draft in the name of the "Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Bangalore" at the time of submission of the visa application.  

The Demand Draft must be payable in Bangalore and should be made only a few days before your appointment . Demand Drafts with incorrect amounts will not be accepted. Fees cannot be paid in cash. Please note that the visa fee is not refundable, even when the visa is rejected.

From April 26, 2012 fees are as following:

Information on blocked accounts (Sperrkonten) for students

If you want to open a blocked account, please contact any German bank, e.g. Deutsche Bank (db%27%com,db%27%student) to send you the application form.     
Please present this application form together with a copy of the data page of your passport at the visa interview.            
The necessary attestations of your signature and of the passport copy will be done during your visa interview.            
The fee for the attestations is 15,- Euros (payable in Rupees; cash or credit card).

After the interview, please send the application form for the blocked account to the German bank.

The Consulate General will receive an e-mail confirmation once your blocked account has been activated.
