The Consul General Ms. Hellwig and the Minister for Industries Shri R.V. Deshpande together inaugurated the Annual VDMA Mechanical Engineering summit in Bengaluru on 8th September. This year the summit is special as it commemorates 125 years of VDMA since its inception.
The VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen-und Anlagenbau) is the German Engineering Federation, one of the largest and most important industrial associations in Europe. In India, Bangalore is the hub of Machine Tool Industry in India with the presence of several reputed German machine tool and engineering companies. About 100 VDMA members are present in Karnataka.
Mr. Deshpande said “Karnataka is committed to reforms and it has been a progressive state right from the beginning". He said that Karnataka receives 3rd largest FDI in India and that investment brings prosperity. He said Make in India started in Karnataka 50 years back when the German company Bosch started it's operations in India out of Bengaluru. He invited the German companies to "invest, invent and innovate in Karnataka!"
The Consul General remarked in her address that digitisation and Internet of Things are the future and Bengaluru is right there at the cusp of it. India can benefit from the traditional German technical engineering know-how, similarly Germany can benefit from the young and creative talent pool that India has to offer.
