The Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bangalore is pleased to inform that the German President has conferred Dr. Syed Ibrahim from Kerala with the Cross of the Order of Merit.
On occasion of the 25th Anniversary of German Unification on 3rd October a celebration was held at Vivanta by Taj in Trivandrum. The highlight of this year’s celebration was the German Consul General in Bengaluru, Mr. Jörn Rohde, presenting the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany to Dr. Syed Ibrahim, Director of the Goethe-Zentrum in Trivandrum, who is also the Managing Director of the software company Palnar Transmedia Pvt. Ltd. inside the Technopark campus.
Germany awards the Cross of the Order of Merit to Dr. Ibrahim to recognize the tireless commitment he has displayed for many years for the benefit of Indo-German relations.
Thanks to his initiative, the German Language and Cultural Centre (Goethe-Zentrum) was successfully established in Trivandrum in November 2008. Today, over 1000 students attend the German language courses every year and the number of students is increasing steadily. Dr. Ibrahim has facilitated numerous partnerships between Indian and German schools, universities and cities; among them the partnership between the cities of Trivandrum and Kaiserslautern needs a special mention. The success of the Goethe-Zentrum in Trivandrum has even prompted the Goethe-Institut to support the Zentrum to start a branch in Kochi this year.
“In addition to all his activities and achievements, he is the person of trust for the German Consulate General in Bengaluru for all matters; whether fostering business cooperation or relations with the government of Kerala. His services to the Germans visiting or living in Kerala in the event of any emergency or difficulty have been of great value to the Consulate General. It is our sincere hope that our requests with the Indian government will soon result in the accreditation of Dr. Ibrahim as German Honorary Consul in Kerala”, said Mr. Jörn Rohde.
