Bengaluru is India’s IT and innovation hub and a case in point for modernisation and urbanisation.

“India is a fascinating and exceptionally diverse country. It has the highest population of any democratic country and the fastest-growing economy in the world. It is fair to say that India’s economy is booming.” explains Mr. Kretschmann.

He inaugurated the new factory of the German company EFD Induction, together with the Honourable Minister for Commerce & Industries, Government of Karnataka, Shri R.V. Deshpande, and German Consul General Mrs. Margit Hellwig-Boette.

Mrs. Margit Hellwig-Boette, German Consul General, says: “It was wonderful meeting Mr. Kretschmann and his delegation. Companies from Baden-Württemberg form the core group of German businesses in Bengaluru and play an important part in Indo-German exchange as well as they foster and provide highly qualified vocational training.”

The visit to Karnataka will highlight the potential of cooperation between South Germany and South India. Winfried Kretschmann is Germanys first Minister-President of the strongly ecologically oriented party “Alliance 90/The Greens”, which he co-founded back in the 1980s.
