As Germany progresses to the quarterfinals of EURO 2016, the German Consulate in Bengaluru is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that fans in Bengaluru don’t miss out on a chance to get together and cheer for their favourite team in a series of live screenings of the matches.
The first live screening event was held at Hotel Shangri-La, organized by the German Consulate General in Bengaluru in association with the British Deputy High Commission on 21st June, around 270 football enthusiasts followed the 1-0 triumph of Germany vs Northern Ireland in the EURO 2016.
The expats enjoyed the evening, it was a get together of the Indo-German-British community in the city. The British Deputy High commissioner, Dominic McAllister as well as the Deputy Consul General of Israel, Mr. Ziv Shalvi and the Japanese Consul General Mr. J Kawaue were present at the evening.
The second live screening was held at the Goethe Institute on 26th June. Enthusiasm spread among the 100 football fans in view of Germany's impressive 3-0 victory over Slovakia. The guests enjoyed the live screening with free beer and soft drinks.
The events were made possible through the generous support from the sponsors Freudenberg, EFD Induction, Siemens, TÜV Rheinland, Deutsche Bank and Kingfisher.
Now hopes are high that the German team, the defending World Champions, will make it to the final of the EURO 2016 and many more live screenings will follow! The German Consul General Mr. Rohde, a huge football fan and a football player himself remarked "I am confident Germany will secure a place in the finals after all they are the current world champions".
