On 10th of June, Mr. Jörn Rohde, German Consul General, Bengaluru, visited the CBM supported project “Unit of Hope” at St. John’s Medical College Hospital in Bengaluru.
The main aim of the project is to have a comprehensive multi-disciplinary and exclusive unit for the management of physically and mentally challenged children, with an outreach arm for community based rehabilitation. The involved medical professionals dedicate their time and expertise to the services pro bono. The “One-Stop Shop” principle applied by the Unit of Hope is unique and has been recognized nationally and internationally. Presently, the Unit of Hope is reaching out to 3.000 children with disabilities in a year coming from all parts of India.
The German Consulate General in Bengaluru will support CBM’s project to upgrade and equip the low vision clinic in the “Unit of Hope”, St. John’s Medical College Hospital. The objective of the project that will be supported within the Consulate’s micro-project scheme is to give access to services related to low vision to a higher number of children with visual and multiple disabilities.
