The German Consulate in Bengaluru supported BGM Social Service Centre in building rain water harvesting units.
The Consul General Joern Rohde along with his wife Sonia Lapointe visited BGM Social Service Center, a charitable trust located in Neyyardam in Trivandrum, Kerala. It works in uplifting marginalized communities like tribals and BPL families in Neyyardam.
There is an acute shortage of safe drinking water in this region. BGM helps to bridge this gap by constructing 25 rainwater harvesting units, each of 5000 liter capacity. 35 families are set to benefit from these units. Kerala receives comparatively heavy rainfall; hence these units ensure sufficient availability of safe drinking water throughout the year.
