Namaste and welcome to the website of the German Embassy in India!

Having submitted my letter of credence to President Pranab Mukherjee on 2nd Septemebr 2015, I would like to introduce myself as Germany’s new Ambassador to India.

I am truly delighted with this assignment. Indo-German relations are of great significance to the German Government, which makes this posting a challenging, but rewarding task. India is a country on the move - gaining weight with great strides in the international community. The German Government is enormously interested in supporting India on this journey. The same applies to the German business community.

India and Germany have strong bilateral ties. Both countries embrace democracy and have a shared trade history dating back to the 16th century. There is a constant flow of top-level visitors between our countries culminating in the Intergovernmental Consultations between Prime Minister Narendra Modi und Chancellor Angela Merkel and their cabinets in early October.

Business and investment ties between India and Germany continue to grow stronger and more complex. People-to-people contacts are flourishing. The number of Indian students at German universities has been rising steadily by more than 20 percent every year. A great number of Germans adopt Yoga and Ayurveda, watch Bollywood movies and attend Holi parties in German cities.

These lively bilateral relations are a great foundation to build on. My colleagues at the Embassy and I are eager to contribute to taking the Indo-German partnership to the next level. We truly believe that Germany is an ideal partner for India – having the expertise to support some of India’s key initiatives such as “Make in India”, “Skill India” and “Smart Cities”. Germany wants to assist India in realizing its full potential and is offering a full-scale partnership.

Thank you for visiting the Germany in India website. I would like to encourage you to keep engaging with us here, on our Facebook site and on Twitter.
